OverviewTo perform all required set-up, machining, layout, minor program revision, sub-assembly and planned preventative maintenance for multiple machines. The operator(s) will perform distinctly different tasks on a daily basis and be capable of performing all required manufacturing functions necessary to machine turbo machinery components on Large Gantry CNC and Portal Machines, including but not limited to: the Master head, Mill/Turn, and DMU

- Receives direction from management.
- Each operator functions by reviewing the daily workload schedule directives which specifies:
- The machines’ Preventive Maintenance Plan (PM)
- The part to be machined.
- The part to set-up
- The tooling requirements for all scheduled parts.
- The next part to be machined
- Working from the above information, interprets prints, drawings, (part or tool) and sketches and instructions.
- Performs all necessary set-up operations by installing and adjusting tools, clamps and fixtures, part positioning or alignment and maintaining proper feeds and speeds.
- Performs all necessary machining operations, either in a controlled NC mode or manually.
- Performs all part verification requirements, including Data Sheets.
- Performs all tool setting requirements.
- Performs all planned PM requirements.
- Plans and performs all necessary tooling, set-up hardware and measuring gages to manufacture the next scheduled part.
- Utilizes DNC network.
- Performs all layout functions to prepare parts for manufacture (angles, radii, tapers, bolt circles, center punch marks on material, etc.).
- Obtains drawings, tools and fixtures from Tool Crib or necessary materials from stock while maintaining the department tooling inventory.
- Performs all assemblies and disassemblies as required.
- Monitors all machine tool functions.
- Stencil s or stamps part for identification.
- Reports defective material and equipment to appropriate Management personnel.
- Verifies accuracy of micrometers as required.
- Checks part to ensure that operation is completed.
- Deburrs as necessary.
- Uses grinding attachments as required.
- Rebuilds, adjusts, changes and dresses tools as required.
- Operates tap disintegrator as required.
- Uses hoist and crane as required.
- Uses forklift truck and other material handling equipment as required.
- Works from ladders and scaffolds.
- Maintains good housekeeping.
- Observes all safety rules.
- Reports production count, time and identifying data as required.
- Prepares, completes and issues documentation relating to the Master Machining Center.
- The operator(s) will use established processing methods or procedures to manufacture parts and operate the system. Routine shift decisions to continue machining components or to operate the machining system will be made by the operator(s).
- Operates multiple axis machines (such as large gantry and portal machines) and sets up the machines to run unattended after programming is proven out and all tool functions monitored.
