Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course in the Certificate in Applied Genomics program at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):

CAG 9011 Clinical Genetics:
Actionability and Genome Editing (Spring, 3 credit hours)

Course Description

In this course, executive education students will explore how genetic and genomic information can impact the medical management of patients, both now and possibly in the near future. The course will explore how genetic diagnostic products are designed, validated, and approved and the uses of whole genome, whole exome, and targeted sequencing approaches in clinical settings. The course will also discuss the role of precision therapeutics and pharmacogenomics in patient care.

Lastly, participants will explore the utility of gene therapy and genome editing, including ethical and regulatory considerations.

The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. An appreciation for an integrated, team-based approach to learning is especially desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use creative approaches to academic program development, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work effectively in a team environment.

The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Dean and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.

Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services.

Education and Experience:

Applicants must hold a master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred. Have experience in online teaching and have experience in industry or academic research in clinical genomics. An ability to work effectively in a team environment. Prior experience in teaching for active learning is preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Hours, Classification, and Status:

This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits.

Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute.

The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.
