We are looking for an EHS Safety Officer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of the EHS programme across a large distribution and warehouse facility, including an integrated vehicle maintenance/workshop area.

The role will be highly field-oriented
, with responsibility for identifying and controlling operational risks, ensuring compliance with applicable EHS requirements, preventing incidents, protecting employees and assets, and promoting a strong safety culture across warehouse, logistics, and workshop operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, logistics, maintenance, facilities, HR, contractors, and the wider EHS function.

Key Responsibilities EHS Management & Risk Control
  • Implement and maintain site EHS policies, procedures, safe work practices, and management systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments, JSA/JHA, hazard identification, and risk-control activities.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections and audits.
  • Maintain a strong field presence across warehouse, distribution, and workshop operations.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Stop unsafe work or activities where there is an immediate safety risk.
Warehouse & Logistics Safety
  • Monitor safety risks related to material handling, forklifts/reach trucks, pallet racking, loading/unloading, storage, housekeeping, and traffic management.
  • Ensure effective segregation of pedestrians and material-handling equipment.
  • Inspect warehouse storage conditions, racking, emergency exits, fire systems, and general housekeeping.
Workshop & Vehicle Maintenance Safety
  • Assess and control risks associated with vehicle maintenance and workshop activities.
  • Monitor safety around vehicle lifts, pits, welding, grinding, painting, battery handling, tyre changing, compressors, electrical tools, and power tools.
  • Implement and monitor Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Manage Permit-to-Work requirements for activities such as hot work, confined space, work at height, and electrical isolation.
Incident Management
  • Ensure incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences are reported immediately.
  • Conduct investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions through to closure.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, statistics, and performance indicators.
Occupational Health & PPE
  • Identify and control occupational health risks including noise, vibration, dust, fumes, chemicals, manual handling, and ergonomic hazards.
  • Coordinate occupational health surveillance and medical fitness requirements.
  • Manage First Aid arrangements and ensure appropriate PPE is available and properly used.
  • Monitor workplace risks such as fatigue and heat stress.
Environmental & Emergency Management
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste segregation, storage, and disposal.
  • Monitor spill prevention and response, particularly for oil, fuel, chemicals, and workshop waste.
  • Support environmental compliance and waste-minimisation initiatives.
  • Maintain fire risk assessments and emergency response procedures.
  • Organise and participate in emergency drills covering fire, chemical spills, vehicle incidents, and medical emergencies.
Training & Safety Culture
  • Deliver and coordinate EHS inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness activities.
  • Support competency training for forklift operations, working at height, chemical handling, LOTO, vehicle lift operations, and other high-risk activities.
  • Maintain training records and competency matrices.
  • Promote behavioural safety and a proactive safety culture.
  • Coach supervisors and operational teams on their EHS responsibilities.
Contractor & Compliance Management
  • Support contractor EHS pre-qualification, induction, and monitoring.
  • Ensure contractors comply with site safety rules and permit requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable local EHS legislation and company standards.
  • Support audits, regulatory inspections, and ISO 45001/ISO 14001-related activities where applicable.
  • Prepare periodic EHS performance reports for management.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of relevant EHS/HSE/Safety experience.
