Reports/Related Role: Chief Airspace Designer / Specialist – Airspace

Job Purpose

The Airspace Design Specialist is responsible for designing an efficient, flexible and dynamic airspace structure, procedures, areas, and routing, based on multi-option routings and areas of operations, supported by adaptable ATC sectorization in order to contribute to the core business as well as external commercial activities within the set KPIs and agreed budgets.

Key Responsibilities IFP Design
  • Produce adequate and accurate IFP in a timely manner to complement or substitute for text produced for eAIP / eAIP Amendment, eAIP Supplement and AIC documents for use by the aviation industry.
  • Implement high technology solutions in the design and production of IFP in order to meet industry expectations.
  • Coordinate, negotiate and verify information to ensure accurate IFP design by designers.
  • Design and maintain IFP within KSA in compliance with GACA regulations and the latest edition of ICAO documents.
  • Comply with all relevant safety, quality and presentation legislation and guidance for the IFP and eAIP documents to guarantee aircraft safety within KSA airspace.
Obstacle Assessment & Evaluation
  • Collect data on all obstacles that may impact or influence IFP and coordinate with the regulator department to approve the implementation of those obstacles.
  • Evaluate obstacles to identify their impact and influence on IFP and classify them accordingly.
  • Maintain documentation on all evaluated obstacles.
  • Determine the maximum allowable height of proposed obstacles or structures.
Aeronautical Study
  • Conduct an aeronautical study to determine the impact of existing/proposed obstacles or structures, operations, and procedures that would constitute a hazard to air navigation with reference to the following parameters:
  • The impact on arrival, departure, and en-route procedures for aircraft operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).
  • The impact on arrival, departure, and en-route procedures for aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
  • The impact on existing and planned public-use aerodromes.
  • Minimum obstacle clearance altitudes, minimum altitudes, approved or planned instrument approach procedures, and departure procedures.
IFP Assessment
  • Evaluate existing/proposed prohibited, restricted, dangerous, and temporary/permanent reserved areas that would constitute a hazard to IFPs.
IFP Presentation
  • Assist in providing technical expertise and advice to designers to ensure presentation in the proper format.
  • Edit IFP charts to ensure that the presentation of the information is accurate, free from distortion, unambiguous and readable under all normal operating conditions.
  • Compliance: Conduct day-to-day activities while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes, taking into account leading practices, changes in the business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Skills / Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field, preferably within the aviation or technological solutions sectors.
Education & Certifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aviation
    , or equivalent, is required.
  • Approved certification training in PANS-OPS
    .
  • Relevant certifications in aviation or technical disciplines are advantageous.
