Mechanical Design Engineer | Power Transformer

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of Power Transformers up to 50 MVA, 132kV.
• Preparation of General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Design of key components: transformer tank cover & radiators, conservator & oil preservation systems, core clamping structures, bushing arrangements & support structures.

• Coordinate with electrical design team, production & manufacturing, QA/QC, procurement & vendors.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Ensure alignment with customer specifications and project requirements.

• Provide technical support during fabrication & assembly.
• Inspection & testing (FAT).
• Resolve design‑related issues during production.
• Ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.

• Optimize designs for structural strength & durability, thermal performance & cooling efficiency, cost‑effectiveness.
• Improve existing designs through continuous development initiatives.

• Minimum 7 years in transformer mechanical design.
• Experience in power transformer manufacturing industry.
• Design of transformers up to 132 kV class.
• Exposure to fabrication and production processes.

• AutoCAD (mandatory).
• PTC Creo, NX, Inventor (preferred).
• MS Office.

• Transformer tank & structural design.
• Cooling systems – radiators, oil flow concepts.
• Material selection & fabrication standards.
• Mechanical stress & load calculations.
• Thermal expansion & vibration analysis.

• IEC standards.
• ANSI standards.
• ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Industrial safety practices.
