Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with extensive experience in Power Transformer design (up to 50 MVA, 132kV class). The candidate will be responsible for detailed mechanical design, preparation of fabrication drawings, BOM, and ensuring compliance with international standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

A. Design & Engineering
- Mechanical design of Power Transformers (up to 50 MVA, 132kV)
- Preparation of:
  - General Arrangement (GA) drawings
  - Fabrication & manufacturing drawings
  - Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Design of key components:
  - Transformer tank, cover & radiators
  - Conservator & oil preservation systems
  - Core clamping structures
  - Bushing arrangements & support structures
B. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with:
  - Electrical Design Team
  - Production & Manufacturing
  - Quality Assurance (QA/QC)
  - Procurement & Vendors
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
- Ensure alignment with customer specifications and project requirements
C. Manufacturing & Testing Support
- Provide technical support during:
  - Fabrication & assembly
  - Inspection & testing (FAT)
- Resolve design-related issues during production
- Ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing
D. Design Optimization
- Optimize designs for:
  - Structural strength & durability
  - Thermal performance (cooling efficiency)
  - Cost-effectiveness
- Improve existing designs through continuous development initiatives

Required Experience

Minimum 7+ years in Transformer Mechanical Design
Experience in:
- Power Transformer manufacturing industry
- Design of transformers up to 132kV class
Exposure to fabrication and production processes

Technical Skills Software Skills

AutoCAD (Mandatory)
PTC Creo / NX / Inventor (Preferred)
MS Office

Core Knowledge

Transformer tank & structural design
Cooling systems (radiators, oil flow concepts)
Material selection & fabrication standards
Mechanical stress & load calculations
Thermal expansion & vibration analysis

Standards & Compliance

Knowledge of:
- IEC Standards
- ANSI Standards
Awareness of:
- ISO 9001 - Quality Management System
- ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System
- Industrial Safety practices

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
