Design Engineer- Electrical

Responsibilities

• Analyze tender documents, technical specifications and project requirements during the pre‑bid stage.
• Prepare conceptual layouts, SLDs and preliminary equipment arrangement plans.
• Develop BOQ and equipment sizing with quantity estimation for major substation components.
• Propose optimized design solutions considering cost, space, safety and constructability.
• Prepare detailed primary design drawings, including OEL, SLD, PSLD, equipment layouts and foundation layouts.
• Perform earthing and grounding design calculations and layout preparation.
• Execute DSLP calculations and layouts for indoor and outdoor substations.
• Conduct equipment sizing for breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, surge arresters, DG sets, transformers and others.
• Prepare cable sizing, routing layouts, termination schedules and BOM.
• Perform busbar design, short‑circuit force calculations and clearance studies as per IEC/IEEE standards.
• Coordinate with secondary civil, structural, mechanical and other disciplines for integrated design.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, CBIP standards and client specifications.
• Support procurement through BOQ and technical specifications.
• Participate in design reviews, client meetings and technical discussions.
• Provide technical support for SCADA, SCMS integration and power system studies.

• Strong expertise in primary design of AIS/GIS substations up to 380kV and above.
• Proficiency in substation layout design, grounding, and equipment sizing.
• Knowledge of DSLP, busbar design, and cable engineering.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and power system studies.
• Working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, DIALux, CDEGS/Auto Grid.
• Good understanding of industry standards (IEC, IEEE, IS, CEA/CBIP).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design deliverables and deadlines.
