About the RoleThis role will act as ACWA's subject matter expert for SAIS Safety & Fire (SAF) requirements
, supporting projects and operational facilities to ensure compliance with applicable industrial safety, fire protection and firefighting requirements.
The position will work across the project lifecycle - from design and construction through commissioning and operation - providing technical guidance, regulatory oversight and assurance to project teams, operating companies, consultants and contractors.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with experience in industrial safety, process safety and fire protection who has worked within the Saudi HCIS/SAIS regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation and monitoring of SAIS/HCIS Safety & Fire requirements across ACWA projects and operational facilities.
- Provide technical interpretation and guidance on SAIS SAF directives and regulatory requirements.
- Review fire protection studies, engineering designs, compliance packages and project submissions.
- Provide oversight of industrial fire protection and firefighting arrangements.
- Review fire protection systems including fire pumps, hydrants, foam systems, fire detection and alarm systems, suppression systems and passive fire protection.
- Support fire hazard assessments, risk analysis and loss-prevention activities.
- Monitor implementation of SAF requirements throughout project development, construction, commissioning, start-up and operation.
- Coordinate regulatory inspections, audits and assessments with SAIS and other relevant authorities.
- Track regulatory observations and corrective actions through to closure.
- Support emergency preparedness, industrial firefighting drills and response exercises.
- Provide technical support to project and operating teams on process safety and fire-related matters.
- Engage with stakeholders including SAIS, Civil Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Energy and relevant government authorities.
- Support competency development, training and awareness relating to Safety & Fire requirements.
- Saudi
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience within industrial safety, process safety, fire protection and/or industrial firefighting
. - Practical experience working with HCIS / SAIS Safety & Fire requirements in Saudi Arabia.
- Experience with in power generation, utilities, water/desalination, oil & gas, petrochemicals, energy or other critical infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting industrial facilities during both project and operational phases.
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems, fire risk and firefighting preparedness.
- Experience dealing with regulatory and government authorities in Saudi Arabia.
- Strong Arabic and English communication skills.
- Previous experience within a major Saudi industrial organisation operating under HCIS/SAIS requirements.
- SAIS approval.
- NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and/or Certified Fire Inspector qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
- Experience supporting multiple facilities, projects or business units.
This role provides the opportunity to operate beyond 1 plant or project and influence Safety & Fire compliance across a major portfolio of critical infrastructure assets.
You’ll work closely with project teams, operating companies, senior stakeholders and government authorities, helping ACWA maintain strong standards of fire protection, industrial safety and regulatory compliance across Saudi Arabia.
