What the role coversAECOM is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Estimator in its transportation business, listed in Jeddah; the posting itself places the role in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The work is the cost management of design and construction projects for urban infrastructure and facilities development.
The estimator will produce detailed cost estimates and budgets using standard estimating practice and cost management software, analyse project costs, identify variances and act to keep work within budget. The posting also covers cost-benefit analyses and feasibility studies, monitoring expenditure across design and construction phases, and reporting financial performance to the project's stakeholders.
The role reviews and validates vendor quotations, contracts and invoices, maintains cost models and historical cost databases, and advises senior management on profitability, financial risk and commercial viability. Mentoring junior cost engineers is part of the job.
Applicants need an engineering degree and at least ten years in cost engineering, commercial management or project cost management, with experience of design and construction projects for urban infrastructure.
AECOM asks for advanced knowledge of cost management software such as:
- Primavera or SAP
- strong variance analysis and reporting skills and
- a professional cost engineering certification
- familiarity with Saudi or wider Middle East business practice
English is required and Arabic is an advantage. The role is on site.
