SQL Server Database Consultant

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Consultant to support the administration, performance, security, and availability of mission-critical SQL Server environments.

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (2016/2019/2022).
• Manage high availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups
  , clustering, replication, and log shipping.
• Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades.
• Conduct query tuning
  , index optimization
  , and execution plan analysis.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks using DMVs, Extended Events, and Profiler
  .
• Implement proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
• Design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Perform restores
  , point-in-time recovery
  , and database integrity checks
  .
• Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO requirements.
• Manage users, roles, and permissions
  .
• Implement encryption, auditing, and compliance standards (including GDPR, HIPAA, SOX
  ).
• Partner with Info Sec to enforce best practices.
• Automate administrative tasks using Power Shell, T-SQL
  , and CI/CD pipelines
  .
• Build scripts for monitoring, reporting, and database deployments.
• Work with developers to design efficient schemas, stored procedures, and queries.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs.
• Document standards, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

• 9+ years of professional experience as a SQL Server DBA
  .
• Strong expertise in SQL Server internals
  , query optimization
  , and performance tuning
  .
• Proven experience with Always On
  , clustering, replication, and disaster recovery.
• Proficiency in T-SQL and Power Shell scripting
  , including automation frameworks.
• Solid understanding of Windows Server
  , Active Directory
  , and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure SQL Database and AWS RDS
  .
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent.
• Experience with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Familiarity with No
  
  SQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) or other RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
