JOB PURPOSE
To operate production machinery efficiently and safely to achieve daily production targets. The Machine Operator is responsible for machine setup, monitoring, basic maintenance and ensuring products meet quality standards. Must be experienced in thermoforming processes and material behavior under heat.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate and monitor thermoforming machinery including heating elements, vacuum pressure systems, molds and trimming stations. Load and unload plastic sheets into the thermoforming machine, ensuring correct material usage as per production orders. Adjust machine parameters such as temperature zones, cycle times, vacuum pressure settings and cooling fan speeds to ensure optimal product quality and consistency. Monitor product quality during production by performing regular visual inspections and dimensional checks (e.g., wall thickness, cut dimensions) using measuring tools like calipers and gauges.
Identify and troubleshoot common thermoforming issues such as webbing, thin spots, wall thickness issue, warping, deformation, poor detail or trimming defects, cutting burrs, offset cut and make necessary adjustments to resolve them. Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on thermoforming equipment including cleaning molds, changing tooling and lubricating components. Maintain accurate production records including material usage, production output, downtime and quality checks.
Follow all safety procedures including lockout tagout protocols and ensure a safe working environment. Collaborate with maintenance technicians for complex repairs or significant equipment issues. Package finished thermoformed parts according to specifications, ensuring proper labeling and preparation for shipping. Assist in inventory management of raw materials, sheets and finished goods within the thermoforming area. Adhere to all company policies and procedures including quality management systems (e.g., ISO, BRC, FSMS).
Support team members and cooperate with supervisors.
- High school diploma or technical certificate.
- Training in machine operation or industrial safety preferred.
- 5 years of experience in machine operation in a manufacturing production environment, plastics preferred.

- Willingness to work various shifts (rotating shifts, nights, weekends) as required by production schedules.
- Solid understanding of various thermoformable plastic sheets (e.g., PET, PS, PP) and their processing characteristics.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, blueprints, specifications and quality control documents.
- Proficient in using basic measuring tools (e.g., calipers, gauges, tape measures).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand and adjust machine controls and parameters (e.g., HMI).
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written to effectively communicate with team members and document production data.
