The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and commercial performance of the retail business. The role ensures efficient store operations, excellent customer service, effective inventory management, achievement of sales targets, and compliance with company policies and standards.
The position will lead the retail team, optimize operational processes, monitor sales and stock performance, and identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities1. Retail Operations
- Manage and oversee daily retail operations to ensure smooth and efficient store performance.
- Ensure all retail activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure the retail area is well organized, properly stocked, and presented to a high standard.
- Monitor opening, closing, cash handling, and daily operational procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze sales trends, customer behavior, and product performance.
- Develop promotional activities and sales initiatives in coordination with the Marketing team.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue through upselling, cross-selling, promotions, and new product offerings.
- Prepare regular sales and performance reports for management.
- Oversee inventory management, stock availability, and replenishment.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels based on sales trends and business requirements.
- Monitor stock movements, transfers, damages, returns, and shrinkage.
- Conduct and oversee regular stock counts and inventory audits.
- Coordinate with suppliers and the procurement team regarding orders, deliveries, and product availability.
- Identify slow-moving and obsolete stock and recommend appropriate actions.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the retail team to achieve operational and sales objectives.
- Set clear performance expectations and monitor individual and team KPIs.
- Prepare staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide coaching and development.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of retail employees.
- Ensure employees maintain high standards of customer service and professional conduct.
- Ensure customers receive a high-quality and consistent shopping experience.
- Monitor customer feedback and resolve complaints or service issues promptly.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey and overall retail experience.
- Ensure products, displays, pricing, and promotions are accurately presented.
- Ensure products are displayed attractively and according to company guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate product placement, pricing, signage, and promotional displays.
- Work with Marketing and Commercial teams on seasonal campaigns and promotional activities.
- Ensure the retail environment is clean, organized, safe, and visually appealing.
- Monitor retail revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability.
- Control operational costs while maintaining service and quality standards.
- Monitor cash reconciliation and ensure proper handling of payments.
- Review and approve operational documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities for the retail operation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate operational and inventory records.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for cash handling, stock control, and loss prevention.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Retail Management or Operations is an advantage.
