Overview
As a Logistics Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient and effective management of logistics and supply chain operations. Your responsibilities will include coordinating transportation, optimizing freight routes, tracking shipments, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers.
Responsibilities- Coordinate transportation and logistics activities including scheduling shipments, arranging pickups and deliveries and managing freight documentation.
- Optimize freight routes and transportation modes to minimize transit times and transportation costs while maximizing efficiency.
- Track shipments and monitor delivery progress to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers.
- Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders and other logistics partners to coordinate shipping schedules and resolve any issues or delays.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards for all shipments, prioritizing the safety of goods and personnel.
- Assist with the negotiation of shipping rates, contracts and service agreements with carriers and freight forwarders.
- Provide support to internal teams including procurement, warehouse operations and customer service to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of shipments including shipping documents, invoices and delivery receipts.
- Assist with the resolution of logistics-related issues or customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in logistics operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes related to logistics and supply chain management.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills in logistics operations and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of logistics policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Support the implementation of technology solutions such as transportation management systems (TMS) and freight tracking software to enhance visibility and tracking of shipments.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by management to support the overall objectives of the logistics department.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, supply chain management, or a related field
