Job Summary:
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the construction warehouse, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient receipt, storage, handling, issuance, and control of materials, tools, equipment, spare parts, and consumables.
The role coordinates warehouse activities with procurement, project/site teams, finance, and logistics to ensure materials are available when required while maintaining proper inventory control, documentation, housekeeping, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, inspection, storage, picking, issuing, and dispatching of materials.
- Ensure all incoming materials are properly received, counted, identified, and recorded.
- Verify materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and approved material requests.
- Ensure materials are stored appropriately according to their type, condition, size, and safety requirements.
- Maintain proper warehouse layout, bin locations, labeling, and identification systems.
- Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space.
- Coordinate the movement of materials between the warehouse, project sites, and other company locations.
2. Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records for construction materials, tools, equipment, spare parts, PPE, and consumables.
- Monitor stock levels and identify shortages, excess stock, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock inventories.
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO practices where applicable.
- Monitor material expiry dates and storage conditions.
- Prepare inventory reports and stock reconciliation reports for management.
3. Material Receiving & Issuing
- Receive materials delivered by suppliers and coordinate inspection with relevant departments.
- Report damaged, short, incorrect, or non-conforming materials.
- Ensure materials are issued only against approved Material Requisition s, Store Requests, or authorized documents.
- Maintain proper records for all material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
- Coordinate with site engineers and supervisors to ensure materials are issued according to project requirements.
4. Team Supervision
- Lead and supervise warehouse staff, storekeepers, helpers, forklift operators, and other warehouse personnel.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor team performance.
- Train employees on warehouse procedures, material handling, inventory control, and safety requirements.
- Ensure staff follow company policies and warehouse procedures.
- Maintain discipline, productivity, and teamwork within the warehouse.
5. Documentation & Systems
- Maintain accurate warehouse documentation, including:
- Goods Receipt Notes (GRN)
- Material Issue Notes (MIN)
- Material Return Notes
- Stock Transfer Notes
- Delivery Notes
- Inventory Reports
- Damage/Shortage Reports
- Update inventory records in ERP, WMS, or other company systems.
- Ensure all warehouse transactions are recorded promptly and accurately.
- Maintain organized records for audits and management review.
6. Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Procurement regarding incoming deliveries and outstanding purchase orders.
- Coordinate with Project/Site teams regarding material requirements and delivery schedules.
- Work with Finance on inventory valuation, documentation, and reconciliation issues.
- Coordinate with Logistics regarding transportation and material movement.
- Inform management of critical stock shortages, delivery delays, damaged materials, and inventory discrepancies.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure warehouse activities comply with company HSE policies and applicable KSA requirements.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and safe access within warehouse areas.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of heavy, hazardous, flammable, or sensitive materials.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by warehouse personnel.
- Monitor safe operation of forklifts, lifting equipment, and material-handling tools.
- Report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and damaged materials immediately.
- Ensure emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment remain accessible.
8. Construction Project Support
- Ensure materials are available to support project schedules and construction activities.
- Coordinate urgent material requirements with Procurement and project teams.
- Maintain separate inventory records where required for different projects or work locations.
- Track project-issued materials and returns.
- Support project closeout by reconciling remaining materials, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Warehouse Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
. - 8-15 years of warehouse/store keeping experience
, preferably in construction, contracting, infrastructure, or industrial projects. - At least 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead warehouse role
. - Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
