Accounting Technician Central Office Fiscal Management Unit – State of Missouri

Responsibilities- Perform clerical functions in the preparation, maintenance, recording, and examination of financial data.
- Examine and process invoices, compare purchase orders and delivery receipts, compute and prepare billing documents.
- Review financial documents for accuracy of figures and mathematical computations, identify discrepancies, and take authorized corrective action.
- Balance incoming funds, prepare bank deposits, monitor and maintain ledgers, registers, and journals; post financial data to proper accounts.
- Record and distribute expenditures according to a cost allocation plan; research, prepare, and verify disbursements, authorized refunds, and adjustments.
- Generate and compile routine financial reports; maintain financial files; compile financial information.
- Supervise clerical staff; exercise judgment and discretion within limits of established policies and procedures; receive general administrative direction.
- Perform work in accordance with established rules, regulations, post orders, and specific instructions.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- One or more years of experience in office support work and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency. Recordkeeping experience is preferred but not required.
- Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year.

Additional Compensation and Benefits- $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. and is employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
- $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full‑time at a qualifying facility.
- $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restricted housing or segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1 % pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
