Responsibilities- Provide essential administrative and legislative support to House members; serve as a key point of contact for constituents and the public, responding to calls, emails, and office visits with professionalism and efficiency.
- Manage organizational systems, including databases and files, and conduct research on legislation, bills, and policy issues to keep the member informed.
- Draft and distribute press releases, district newsletters, and other communications; plan field trips to the Capitol, conferences, and special events; arrange travel as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate management of the member’s expense account in compliance with House policy; maintain detailed records.
- Compose correspondence and reports; take and transcribe meeting minutes; attend committee hearings to support the member’s work.
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and research skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High School graduation or equivalent required; additional education is beneficial.
- One or more years of work experience in a related field and a general knowledge of the legislative process is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills; proficiency using a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships; strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Base starting salary is $1,570.32 bi-monthly. A bi-monthly stipend of $562.50 may be available if the applicant is hired to work for two members. The salary shown does not reflect other differentials such as shift, premium pay for certain duties, or time-of-service pay.
