Responsibilities
  • Serve as Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Division Director of Human Resources for the Division of Adult Institutions and act as office manager directing support functions for the HR leadership team.
  • Provide complex administrative assistance: schedule meetings, make travel arrangements, prepare and process out-of-state travel authorizations, expense accounts, and process mail and documents for section team members.
  • Compose and draft correspondence related to Human Resources functions and respond to inquiries from state officials, staff, and constituents regarding agency matters.
  • Oversee and ensure the accurate, timely preparation of personnel, purchasing, and related documents; monitor the unit’s operating budgets.
  • Maintain knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, Smart Sheets, the Department’s Human Resource Management System, and the Financial System.
  • Exercise independence in decision making based on agency policy and practice.
  • Contribute positively as part of a team, assisting with various tasks as required to help carry out the department’s mission of Improving Lives for Safer Communities.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
    1. One or more years of experience as an Administrative Support Assistant (SOSA) with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
    2. Four or more years of office or related clerical experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
    (Training from an accredited vocational or business school in Office Management, Secretarial Science, or a closely related field may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours, or 480 clock hours, for one year.)
    (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)
  • Preferred Qualifications/Skills Knowledge and experience with SAMII HR and/or Financial is preferred.

Shift Differentals and Stipends
  • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
  • A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full‑time at a qualifying facility.
  • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if assigned to a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit.

The Missouri Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
