This position will be located at Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri
.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering determinations and review projects to ensure they meet all applicable requirements, including determinations related to studies pertaining to drinking water treatment and infrastructure.
  • Draft construction permits for public drinking water systems in accordance with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Safe Drinking Water Regulations and guidance.
  • Assist with well determinations and ground water under direct influence of surface water determinations.
  • Assist with backflow prevention questions and backflow certifications.
  • Provide engineering guidance and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on drinking water treatment and infrastructure projects.
  • Serve on internal and external work groups focused on topics related to drinking water treatment and infrastructure, coordinate with regional office staff, and promote best management practices for unit related activities through development of factsheets, guidance documents, and public engagements.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to the Safe Drinking Water Act and Missouri Safe Drinking Water Law and drinking water infrastructure and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Engineering:
    Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain facilities such as buildings, transportation systems, water and sanitary systems, and other public works systems.
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving:
    Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Oral and Written Communication:
    Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considers the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Equivalent To Those Typically Gained By
  • Assistant Engineer – A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and 0-2 years of relative experience. Successful completion of the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) examination is preferred.
  • Associate Engineer – A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline and 2-4 years of progressive relevant experience. Successful completion of the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) examination is preferred.
