Geographic Information System Specialist Series (Analytics)

Geographic information system specialist performs routine entry-level activities in the design, implementation, and support of geographic information systems (GIS) applications and databases. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.

MoDOT will bring candidates onto the team as entry-level, intermediate or senior level, based on your skills and experience. This opening is for one of our CAREER-LADDER positions which offers the opportunity for career advancement without having to participate in the competitive selection interview process. Job Location:

Central Office, 105 W Capital Ave. Jefferson City, MO

What You’ll Do
  • Use ArcGIS Pro to create, manage, and share interactive web maps within ArcGIS Portal and to create, manage, and publish ArcGIS Map Services.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations in ArcGIS Portal and Power BI to support data-driven decision making.
  • Create and modify geoprocessing models, python scripts, and database queries to meet specific GIS needs, process and analyze data, and improve the efficiency of GIS software.
  • Test new versions of ESRI software and provide technical support and guidance on the use of GIS applications to department personnel and end users.
  • Create, edit, and update files used to develop state highway maps, district maps, county maps, and various other maps used both internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree:
    Geography, Computer Science, Surveying, Geographic Information Systems, or related field, OR
  • Four years of experience working with geographic information systems, surveying, or computer aided design and drafting.
Special Working Conditions

Job may require occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
