** As a Counselor, you will be responsible for assisting individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorder(s) in accordance with their treatment plan to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and educational/working environments.

* Key Responsibilities:
**
* ** Intake and Assessment:
** Complete intake/screening/assessment processes within appropriate time frames as designated by state regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards.
* ** Treatment Planning:
** Develop treatment plans for clients in accordance with state regulatory/accrediting body guidelines that demonstrate individualization based on information gathered from assessment.
* ** Documentation:
** Document all services provided in accordance with state regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards, ensuring timely entry and correction of any file/charting deficiencies.
* ** Crisis Intervention:
** Handle crisis situations as they arise and facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions focused on resolving problems related to substance use.
* ** Professional Representation:
** Represent the agency within the community in a professional manner and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers.
* ** Training Requirements:
** Complete annual training identified through the individualized training plan meeting minimum training hours as required.
* ** Other Duties:
** Additional responsibilities as assigned by Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, or Executive Team members.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
* ** Counseling Techniques:
** Thorough knowledge of caseload management and rehabilitation methods, principles, and techniques related to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
* ** Effective Communication:
** Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to produce clear and concise reports.
* ** Client Rapport:
** Ability to establish rapport with the client/patient population and employ effective methods and counseling techniques to assist in recovery.
* ** Legal Knowledge:
** Considerable knowledge of the legal requirements and court procedures related to treating mental health and substance use disorders.
** Experience and Education
Qualifications:
**
* ** Missouri:** + Master’s or bachelor’s degree (non-licensed) in a human services field, and/or certified/credentialed to provide services within the scope of practice. + Hold credentials defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB) such as Qualified Addiction Professional, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or similar designations.
* ** Kansas:** + Hold credentials as defined by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board, Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC).
* Individuals must be willing to become credentialed in additional states and are comfortable providing telehealth services.
** Employment Requirements:**
* ** Background Check:
** Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
* ** Orientation & Training:
** Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment and all required training, including Relias courses.
* ** Driver’s License:
** Current valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
