- Base Pay Range: $19.15 - $30.23/hour, based on experience
MU Health Care is seeking a dedicated Reimbursement Assistant for the Therapy Services team. You will extract data, apply ICD‑9 CM and CPT procedure codes, and coordinate billing and collections with external agencies. You will audit claims, resolve discrepancies, and act as a liaison between departments and payers to ensure accurate healthcare documentation and optimal reimbursement.

Job Description
- Assist in training sessions for staff on Medicare billing, federal laws, and coding guidelines.
- Coordinate, bill, and collect from departments within the university system and external agencies.
- Screen medical records for potential claim liabilities and assist in audits to document and rectify billing issues.
- Act as liaison with third‑party payers to resolve audit discrepancies.
- Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient, outpatient, and professional encounters.
- Interpret healthcare documentation to determine principal diagnosis and procedure.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Required QualificationsAssociate's degree (or equivalent credit hours) in medical coding, medical office technology, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsTwo years of medical-related experience including one year of medical coding experience.
Physical DemandsRequires ambulation, stationary standing, and ability to reach and move objects up to 10 lbs.
