The salary reflected represents the base pay for this position and does not include any differential for time-of-service pay for state tenure.

We are recruiting to fill a Oracle Database Administration Supervisor I position to supervise Oracle Database Administration staff in all areas, set priorites for staff, ensuring those priorities align with orginzational goals. This role also works as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator and performs installation and configuguration of the database software, research and planning of new releases and upgrades, and supporting the deployed products.

They perform hands-on database administration including the maintenance, backup, recovery, tuning and monitoring of all databases. This role requires a proactive approach to risk management, particularly concerning information security risks, and ensures optimal database performance through tuning and maintenance. In addition they are able to work as the highest level support engineer with knowledge and ability to respond to on-call situations.

  • Trains, supervises, mentors, evaluates and motivates assigned staff
  • Determines and defines work assignments, delegates work related to the efficient operation of all OSCA computer systems analysis and design or other information technology specialties
  • Confers with management relative to strategic planning, long term priorities and agency goals; implements data-gathering and programming techniques; directs feasibility studies; recommends computer information technology solutions; and manages project implementation
  • Communicates with vendors on hardware and software developments, and directs or conducts the research, recommendation, and preparation of requests for proposals or bid specifications for hardware and software purchases
  • Supervises the development and application of standards and procedures necessary to develop, install, and maintain efficient computer information technology systems.
  • Supervises and participates in computer systems disaster recovery plan maintenance and implementation.
  • Manages and maintains all organizational Oracle Windows, Linux, and Exadata Systems that utilize technologies including RAC, ASM, Active Data Guard, and RMAN to complete and validate backups, monitor performance and troubleshooting errors
  • Develops and executes database strategies to ensure data integrity and availability, including backup, restore, restart and recovery routines (and if appropriate, disaster recovery); collaborates with relevant specialist teams in the wider organization
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and implement database solutions to support business needs
  • Monitors database security to ensure data is protected and complies with data privacy regulations, in conjunction with the wider security team
  • Monitors performance, service-level adherence and trends to alert management, development and operations teams about runtime performance problems
  • Creates and maintains database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions
  • Plans and executes database installs, updates and migrations to new hosts, working closely with technical teams to ensure minimal downtime and impact on users
  • Collaborates with vendors to resolve database-related issues and implement new features

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in computer science, computer information systems, or closely related areas and 7 years of professional and technical computer information systems experience, including 2 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, and 2 years of experience as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, and at least 1 year of supervisory experience;

Or

2 years of experience as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with the Office of State Courts Administrator.

Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
