Overview: The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the organization’s payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws and company policies. This role ensures accurate and timely payment to employees, completes systematic reviews of benefit deductions, and delivers related reporting needs to interdepartmental departments.

Key responsibilities
  • Process full cycle bi‑weekly, off‑cycle, and special run payroll, including verification of wage, tax, and deduction accuracy.
  • Maintain and update payroll systems with employee data (e.g., taxes, direct deposit).
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks and deductions.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management, audits, finance, and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Perform benefit deduction audits in conjunction with payroll processing.
  • Assist with benefits administration.
  • Maintain confidential records, including payroll and benefit audit documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist with external audits related to payroll and benefits.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll and benefits regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to improve processes and workflows.
Qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and benefits assistance.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms, preferably UKG Pro WFM or Dayforce.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
