Hours:
7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Minimum requirement: 3 shifts in a six‑week schedule. Call schedule: one weekend every six weeks, no holiday call requirement, no call Monday night through Thursday night. Friday 6 pm through Monday morning 7 am. Greatest department need is call at Wash Twp campus (30‑minute response time) and for our neuro intervention team.
The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is responsible for operating interventional radiographic equipment to produce imaging for diagnostic and interventional procedures under the direction of a radiologist. Works with physicians, nursing staff, and other technologists to perform specialized interventional radiographic examinations. Uses good judgment in patient care and education before, during, and after procedures. May act as mentor for less senior IR technologists or technologists in training.
EssentialFunctions
- Interact with coworkers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson values.
- Perform interventional procedures such as vascular “non‑cardiac” angiographic studies, drainage, biopsies, nephrostomies, catheter insertions, vascular embolization, and other procedures under physician direction.
- Maintain critical patient and equipment positioning during contrast media flow to ensure safety and success of examination results.
- Test special equipment such as contrast media injectors and program selectors for function prior to examination, ensuring proper timing and synchronization.
- Determine equipment requirements for procedures based on the physician’s tentative diagnoses and required scout films.
- Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.
- Maintain radiographic and laboratory equipment and examination room in appropriate operating condition.
- Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality‑assurance tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of needles, catheters, sterile techniques, drugs, procedures, equipment use, and hospital or departmental policies.
- Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) program or current validated ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
- Two years as an interventional radiographer in a hospital environment preferred.
- Advanced ARRT certification preferred.
$38.02 to $54.17 per hour (actual hiring rate based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications). Position not eligible for an annual incentive.
