Interventional Radiology Technologist (Per Diem) – Jefferson Health New Jersey
Join Jefferson Health to work as an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist. This per diem position requires a minimum of 3 shifts in a six‑week schedule, includes one weekend every six weeks, and no holiday call or Monday‑night to Thursday‑night call. The greatest need is for call at the Wash Twp campus and for our neuro intervention team.

IR Technologist – responsible for operating interventional radiographic equipment to produce imaging during diagnostic and interventional procedures under the direction of a radiologist. Works with physicians, nursing personnel, and other technologists to perform specialized interventional radiographic examinations. Uses good judgment in patient care and education before, during, and after procedures. May mentor less senior IR technologists.
Essential Functions- Interact with co‑workers, visitors, and staff in accordance with Jefferson values.
- Perform interventional procedures such as vascular non‑cardiac angiography, drainage, biopsies, nephrostomies, catheter insertions, and embolization under physician direction.
- Maintain critical patient and equipment positioning during contrast media flow to ensure safety and successful outcomes.
- Test special equipment (contrast media injectors, program selectors) for function before examinations.
- Determine equipment requirements based on physician’s tentative diagnoses and necessary scout films.
- Provide staff and patient protection following radiation safety standards.
- Maintain radiographic and lab equipment and examination rooms in acceptable condition.
- Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance or control tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of needles, catheters, sterile techniques, drugs, procedures, equipment, and hospital/departmental policies.
- Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated ARRT certification in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R) and (CT) preferred.
- Two years experience as an interventional radiographer in a hospital environment (preferred).
- Advanced ARRT certification preferred.
Hourly rate: $38.02 to $54.17. Final rate determined by experience, skills, and qualifications. Not eligible for annual incentive.
