Industrial Gas Technician (Facility Technician) at Canadian Solar. The Industrial Gas Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the facility’s infrastructure and systems to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operations. This role involves supporting building systems, coordinating maintenance tasks, assisting facility projects, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Responsibilities- Facility Management:
Assist in the operation and maintenance of building systems, including Scrubbers, Chillers, Boilers, Chemical and Waste Management, cleanroom environment (Temperature & Humidity Control and Pressure Control), Vacuum & CDA system and specialty gases and chemicals. - Ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient condition.
- Follow maintenance schedules and procedures for all facility systems.
- Ensure the facility system operates at optimum level.
- Work with colleagues on facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and repairs.
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
Assist with implementing preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of facility systems. - Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to building systems and equipment.
- Perform regular inspections and audits to identify maintenance needs and potential improvements.
- Support emergency repairs when necessary.
- Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all facility operations comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards. - Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Energy and Waste Management:
Monitor and manage energy consumption to promote sustainability and reduce costs. - Implement energy‑saving initiatives and best practices.
- Track utility usage and costs, providing reports on energy efficiency and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Ensure proper waste management and compliance with EPA requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, facility inspections, and equipment performance. - Ensure documentation is up‑to‑date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing reports related to facility operations and maintenance status.
- Team
Collaboration:
Work closely with facility staff, management, and other departments to address facility needs and support operational goals. - Provide training and support to staff on facility‑related procedures and safety practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate’s degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in facility management, building systems maintenance, or a similar role. Solar panel industry experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, Scrubbers, Chillers, Boilers, Chemical and Waste Management, cleanroom environment, Vacuum & CDA system, and specialty gases and chemicals.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, local laws, and industry standards.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in facility management (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP)).
- Experience with energy management and sustainability practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to the industry or facility type.
- Proficiency in both English and Mandarin is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
- Willingness to continuously learn and update skills.
- Standard office environment with frequent visits to facility areas and production environments.
- May require occasional travel to other facilities or vendor locations.
- May involve working outside of regular hours to address facility issues or oversee projects.
