Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Louisville, KY.
Hourly Pay: $34.03 per hour.
Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700.
Quarterly Bonus:
Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter (four times per year).
Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days.
Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday, Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
- 3+ years relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- All other certifications as required by location (required)
- Minimum 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and mid‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems with diagnostic computer
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support)
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days when required by fleet mix
