Position SummaryResponsible for the complete and satisfactory installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services, trains other installers, performs install work in difficult situations, and assists the Field Supervisor or General Manager on audits, site supervision, and work planning.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager to install HVAC equipment and accessories in customers’ homes.
- Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories in accordance with company requirements and manufacturer specifications; perform limited diagnostics as needed.
- Design, fabricate, and install various ducts and duct fittings as required.
- Perform start‑ups on air conditioning and heating systems and other components.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Promote products and services to customers and notify Sales and Service Coordinator of replacement product sales leads generated from customer service visits.
- Handle delivery and removal of equipment needed to complete the installation work.
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are properly used, maintained, and accounted for.
- Complete all paperwork neatly, accurately, thoroughly, and timely; collect payment from customers.
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters.
- Keep the installation vehicle clean and neat inside and outside.
- Follow standard procedures and processes; ensure the vehicle is properly stocked, return defective warranty parts, and order/replenish vehicle stock as needed.
- Assist the Field Supervisor or General Manager with site supervision, planning, and estimating.
- Assist with completing quality audits on selected installations to ensure superior performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Train other installers in technical skills and company procedures, as assigned.
- Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
- High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of HVAC technical training or certification.
- Valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, or local laws for the geographic work area.
- EPA and safety certifications.
- Proficiency in fundamentals of heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment and related accessories.
- Advanced skills installing HVAC equipment and accessories.
- Proficiency in layout and installation of duct work and fittings.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to use all necessary tools and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct system problems.
- Ability to properly start up and balance airflow; align belts and pulleys with little to no supervision.
- Advanced skills installing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment.
- Ability to calculate heat gain and loss on buildings using approved methods.
- Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
- Effective time‑management and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Availability for flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, crawl spaces. Ability to continuously climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
