This position is located within the Nursing Department at the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, LA.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled at the Nursing Assistant 1 or 2 level based on experience. Refer to the 'Job Specifications' on the LA Careers website for salary, qualifications, and job details for each level.
Salary and Shift Differentials- Nursing Assistant 1: $13.74/hour + $5.00/hour physically worked
- Nursing Assistant 2: $14.70/hour + $5.00/hour physically worked
Shift differentials per hour physically worked:
- 1st shift (Weekends, Holidays): $2.50
- 2nd shift (Weekdays): $2.50
- 2nd shift (Weekends, Holidays): $3.00
- 3rd shift (Weekdays): $2.50
- 3rd shift (Weekends, Holidays): $3.00

- Six months of patient care experience or training; or
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; or
- Completion of an accredited Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician program.
Note:
Positions at facilities receiving Medicaid/Medicare funds require a current CNA certificate.
- Perform routine nursing duties for patient care.
- Measure vital signs and record in medical records.
- Assist with patient mobility, feeding, bathing, and positioning.
- Sterilize equipment and supplies.
- Distribute linens, collect laboratory specimens, and transport patients.
- Observe patient conditions and report changes.
- Perform procedures like enemas and skin care as directed.
- Maintain certifications such as CPR and First Aid.
- Work shifts may vary.
