This position is located in the Nursing Department of the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an LPN 1 /2/3, depending on the experience level of the selected applicant(s). This is a Full-time appointment that pays:
- $19.48 hourly (Special Entrance Rate) for a Practical Nurse Lic 1 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked
- $20.84 hourly (Special Entrance Rate) for a Practical Nurse Lic 2 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked
- $22.30 hourly (Special Entrance Rate) for a Practical Nurse Lic 3 plus $7.00 per hour physically worked.

The advertised maximum amount listed is the maximum salary a person can make while in this title/level over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (per HOUR physically worked):
- Shift Diff 1st shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)-$3.00
- Shift Diff 2nd shift (Weekdays)-$3.00
- Shift Diff 2nd shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)-$4.00
- Shift Diff 3rd shift (Weekdays)-$4.00
- Shift Diff 3rd shift (Weekends, Holidays, and Weekend Holidays)- $5.00

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
Function of Work:To provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
Level of Work:Entry.
Supervision Received:Close supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
Supervision Exercised:May exercise functional supervision over paraprofessional nursing personnel.
Location of Work:Statewide in healthcare and correctional facilities.
Job Distinctions:Differs from Practical Nurse--Licensed 2 by the absence of journeyman level duties and independent performance of duties. Implements parts of the nursing care plan, observes patients, takes vital signs, administers medication, assists physicians, and performs basic nursing tasks under supervision.
