Patrol Deputy

• Patrol assigned geographic areas
• Respond to crimes in progress and emergency calls
• Investigate criminal activity and motor vehicle accidents
• Transport prisoners safely and securely
• Testify in court when necessary
• Address juvenile, neighborhood, and domestic complaints
• Serve warrants and conduct crisis intervention
• Interview complainants and witnesses
• Investigate natural and unnatural deaths
• Complete thorough, accurate reports and documentation
• Deputies must be able to use reasonable force when required and handle potentially volatile or dangerous situations calmly, confidently, and effectively.

• At least 21 years of age at the time of application
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Certified Peace Officer recognized by the State of Louisiana (POST)

• At least two years of prior law enforcement experience

• Proficient typing and computer skills
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret various documents
• Strong observational and memory skills
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively
• Willingness to learn new skills and stay current with changes

This position requires physical agility, strength, and coordination, including the ability to:
run, walk, jump, sit, bend, climb, crawl, reach, pull, twist, and maintain strong hand‑eye coordination and grip strength.

• Salary determined by agency salary table with a minimum hourly rate of $18.32
• Additional consideration for postsecondary education and prior law enforcement experience
