- Must be at least 18 years ofage at the time of application
- High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license
- Two years working experience in corrections or another criminal justice field
- Louisiana POST Certification
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Maintain internal and external security of a correctional institution.
- Observe and participate in supervision, control, and custody of inmates through both visual and auditory surveillance
- Conduct inspections of all housing and general use areas to ensure that proper standards, facility operating procedures
- Report all unusual occurrences, accidents, or safety hazards to supervisors
- Books in and releases inmates.
- Answers, transfers and responds to phone calls.
- Escort/Transport inmates toand from various activities and appointments
- Strictly adhere to policies safeguarding confidentiality
- Perform related work as required, including assistance with food service, security, and maintenance duties
- Prepares reports on activities
- The minimum hourly rate ofpay for this position is $12.40/hr
- Postsecondary education andLaw enforcement or Corrections experience will be taken under consideration inrespect to the hourly rate of pay.
- Eligible for paid overtime
- Employer paid Health,Vision, Dental and Life insurance for full time employees
- Vacation and Sick time after1 year of continuous employment
- Eligible for additional leave when scheduled on an office holiday
