Correctional Deputy

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Valid driver's license

• Two years of experience in corrections or another criminal justice field
• Louisiana POST Certification

• Follow all policies and procedures of the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office
• Maintain professional conduct at all times
• Ensure internal and external security of the correctional facility
• Supervise and monitor inmates through visual and auditory surveillance
• Inspect housing and general-use areas to ensure compliance with standards and operating procedures
• Report unusual incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to supervisors
• Book and release inmates
• Answer, respond to, and transfer phone calls
• Escort and transport inmates to activities and appointments
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with policy
• Assist with food service, security, and maintenance duties as needed
• Prepare reports on daily activities

• Minimum hourly rate: $16.51
• Pay considerations given for education and relevant law enforcement/corrections experience
• Eligible for paid overtime
