Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute inpatient or rehab experience for a contract position working with orthopedic and neurological patients.

• Work in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting with some coverage in swing bed cases
• Caseload includes 8 to 10 patients per day with one therapist per day
• Patient population includes orthopedic (total joints), neurological (strokes), occasional brain injuries, medical, and general ICU cases
• Position may float to another local facility when census is low
• Day shift schedule with four 10-hour shifts (4x10) or five 8-hour shifts (5x8), Monday through Friday
• Epic EMR is used and experience with Epic is preferred
• Holiday coverage may be required
• Responsible for evaluation, treatment planning, and delivering OT services to acute and swing bed patients
• A manager is present on each shift; no COTAs or rehab aides are staffed
• 2-3 days of department-specific orientation provided; onboarding schedule may require Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts
• Scrubs permitted but must not match colors of other departments; color list available upon hire
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying as a traveler
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius of the facility; permanent address will be verified for eligibility
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted

• Current, active OT license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of licensed OT experience in acute inpatient or rehab setting
• Current BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Driver’s license required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months, one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
