Assisting After‑School Children

Assisting After‑School children with various, social, and inter‑personal skills.

• Assist other staff members in the pick‑up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center.
• Review children’s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly.
• Keep accurate records of children’s assignments and progress.
• Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students.
• Provide tutoring to students when necessary.
• Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities.
• Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc.
• Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc.
• Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times.
• Perform all other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director.

• At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic record.
• Maintain an “A” or “B” average in personal academic reports.
• Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick‑ups).
• Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities.
• Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks.
• Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
