Soltage is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Project Engineer to own civil, structural, and site civil engineering for our standalone battery energy storage (BESS) and solar-plus-storage projects, from design review through construction and commissioning. Reporting directly to the SVP of Engineering, you’ll help expand Soltage’s storage footprint in Mid-Atlantic and Northeast urban centers and other U.S. markets.

  • Conduct site visits for field investigations, constructability reviews, geotechnical observations, and foundation and civil infrastructure inspections.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and submittals for compliance with project requirements and design standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for civil and structural matters from detailed engineering through closeout and oversee external engineering consultants.
  • Review vendor foundation and wall designs, equipment loads, seismic criteria, and installation requirements for BESS containers, inverters, transformers, switch gear, and substation equipment.
  • Support RFPs, EPC bid evaluations, engineering estimates, and value engineering.
  • Resolve RFIs, NCRs, field design changes, and construction issues with contractors to minimize schedule and cost impacts.
  • Verify completion of civil and structural work during commissioning and support mechanical completion and turnover.

  • Working knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, shallow and deep foundations, equipment anchorage, seismic and wind loading, retaining and fire/noise-rated walls, duct banks, and cable trenches.
  • Working knowledge of site development (grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, access roads) and geotechnical principles (bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, liquefaction).
  • Experience coordinating with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, utilities, Owner’s Engineers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarity with construction QA/QC documentation, including RFIs, submittals, ITPs, NCRs, punch lists, and as-builts.
