Finance & Operations Analyst, LCARS

Join to apply for the Finance & Operations Analyst, LCARS role at Verisk.

The Finance & Operations Analyst plays a key role in driving financial visibility and accountability across the Legal, Compliance, Audit, Risk, and Sustainability (LCARS) functions that report into Verisk’s Chief Legal Officer. This role will report to the Head of Operations for LCARS and will directly support all aspects of financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, reforecasting, and spend optimization.

A major focus for the Analyst will be vendor spend, particularly on outside counsel expenses.

The ideal candidate is a curious, detail-oriented problem solver who thrives on making sense of complex and disparate data. You will gather and reconcile information to produce a unified and accurate financial picture.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with LCARS leaders to manage budgets, track spend, and reforecast quarterly expenses.
  • Support financial reviews, accrual reporting, and variance analyses.
  • Consolidate and reconcile data to create accurate and actionable financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and summaries that communicate financial insights and trends to management and leadership.
Outside Counsel and Vendor Spend Management
  • Review and analyze outside counsel invoices and spend data.
  • Identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities to reduce spend.
  • Partner with Legal and Finance teams to ensure compliance with billing guidelines and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support accrual tracking and reporting related to outside counsel and other vendors.
Operational Support & Process Improvement
  • Work closely with the broader LCARS Operations team to identify process gaps or inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Support the integration and consistency of data between LCARS operations systems and corporate finance platforms.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance cost transparency and operational efficiency across LCARS.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or operational analytics (prior exposure to legal operations, or supporting Compliance, Audit, Risk, and/or Sustainability functions, is a huge plus).
  • Strong analytical and data-management skills, including advanced or expert level Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
  • Comfort working across disparate systems and data sources to reconcile and produce clear, reliable insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and business judgment.
  • Proactive, organized, and eager to contribute ideas for improving processes and systems.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as strong judgment and discretion.
  • Prior experience in creating, maintaining, and evolving dashboards and reporting tools (using Excel and Power

    BI).
  • Superb track record of building collaborative relationships, earning trust, and fostering a positive, team-oriented work culture.
  • Seasoned, knowledgeable and extremely comfortable with platforms/systems, as well as artificial intelligence. Tech advocate or tech-forward, and familiar or experienced with Oracle or other ERP systems, Simple Legal or other e‑billing platforms, and Microsoft 365 suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Forms, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI).
