$23.28 - $29.41 per hour (anticipated hourly wage for New Jersey)

Job Overview

The Patient Access Team Lead plays a key role in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing required data. The role greets all patients in a timely and friendly manner.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of registration, Non‑Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care
  • Medical terminology and computer skills
  • CHAA or CRCR Certification (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years patient access experience (preferred)
Scheduling Requirements
  • Day Shift, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Rotating weekends and holidays required
  • Full‑Time, 40 hours per week
Essential Functions
  • Obtain and accurately document demographic information
  • Obtain insurance information and initiate verification through third‑party clearinghouse
  • Complete coverage verification and conduct financial clearance
  • Ensure required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained, and signed
  • Inform patient of financial responsibility, collect payment, issue receipt, and reconcile daily cash collections
  • Provide back‑up support to hospital cashier and complete cashier functions as assigned
  • Complete Medicare Questionnaire for eligible patients
  • Review work queues daily, correct errors, and keep account accurate for billing
  • Demonstrate proficiency in pre‑admission, registration, and financial clearance processes
  • Maintain high efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
  • Meet and exceed department goals: accuracy, point‑of‑service collections, and productivity
  • Verify accuracy of patient demographics to avoid duplicate records and follow procedures when duplicates occur
  • Comply with policies on advance directives and patient rights
  • Provide regulatory documents and witness signatures
  • Maintain productivity by taking on additional duties when patient flow permits
  • Prioritize customer needs and observe service quality of others, reporting issues to supervisor/director
  • Demonstrate initiative, solve problems, and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
  • Maintain a supportive work environment and positive attitude
  • Participate in training development and delivery for registration staff
  • Lead the department, collaborate with management to identify issues and implement solutions, monitor compliance
  • Assist in patient throughput monitoring, delegating tasks, timing breaks, and maintaining service levels
  • Assume on‑call responsibilities as needed
  • Work closely with nursing and ancillary departments to foster teamwork
  • Take initiative and self‑direct to achieve goals
  • Other duties as assigned
