Minimum Starting Rate/Salary: $40,000.00

The CPSAI Assessment Counselor completes substance use assessments for DCP&P caregivers and coordinates referrals for treatment, ensuring compliance with CPSAI guidelines.

• Thoroughly complete all assigned tasks within prescribed time frames and demonstrate reliability with consistent follow‑up.
• Comply with work schedule as negotiated with supervisor.
• Demonstrate collegial attitude and cooperative behavior with co‑workers within department/program.
• Seek appropriate and timely consultation from supervisor and report relevant issues.
• Plan and coordinate all substance abuse services and monitor compliance.
• Keep DCP&P informed of client status and provide required notifications.
• Complete all reports in a timely manner and obtain DCP&P signature on all necessary forms.
• Provide copies of completed forms to DCP&P.
• Complete progress notes, including initial assessment note, and maintain communication with client and case conferences with DCP&P.
• Submit monthly tracking form to Administrative Assistant within the first week of the month.
• Enter referrals into NJSAMS upon receipt and update accordingly, including level of care changes and discharge.

• Proficient written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders.

• Education:
  
  Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Certified Addiction Counselor (CADC).
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License in good standing.
