Job OverviewDistribution of medical and surgical supplies, including Pyxis and non Pyxis stock to all nursing care units. Insures proper rotation of dated inventory and maintains cleanliness of storeroom area. Supply both sterile and non-sterile products, restock medical/surgical supplies in the Pyxis Supply Stations and performs Pyxis station inventories regularly.
QualificationsRequired:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous hospital central distribution experience and med/surg supply knowledge required.
Preferred:
- Computer skills desirable.
- Central Service Technician Certification
- Flex Schedule
- Coverage for weekends, holiday, and weekday coverage as needed
- Assemble and disassembles traction equipment as requested in a safe and efficient manner.
- Checks for outdated supplies on the nursing units and in central service.
- Distribute supplies to various areas of the Medical Center including the Continuing Care Building
- Handles telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for confidentiality. “Stat” requests are handled appropriately.
- Performs storage and receiving functions according to established department procedures.
- Performs supply returns according to established procedures.
- Responsible for all documentation for the work area assigned and required by Central Service.
- Responsible for the receiving, distribution and record keeping of needles and syringes.
- Retrieval of soiled instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and decontaminated.
- Understands and is able to operate the central computer to determine stock levels, orders pending and stock issues.
- Understands sufficient medical terminology to discuss supplies needed for medical and nursing personnel.
- Delivers and fills supplies in Pyxis stations according to established department procedures.
- Rotates all dated supplies and maintains cleanliness of Pyxis supply stations.
