ML + AI Engineer - NYC

Our client is a startup that equips accountants with a team of AI agents to take on real workflows. They have hit product market fit, have more demand than they can meet, and just raised $34m to scale at a speed that meets this moment.

As a leader on our Data Modeling team, you'll be responsible for designing and building the world that our AI systems interact with. We are looking for engineers with experience modeling interconnected systems, developing coding abstractions, and designing/debating the trade-offs and constraints of a system.

In this role, you will set the context and rules in which our AI agents operate.

• How do we model and explain accounting to an agent?
• What does the agent need to know about accounting at any given stage?
• What are the constraints of navigating the accounting world?

• Experienced: 5+ years of developing complex systems (Python preferred); open to exceptional candidates with fewer years and evidence of exceptional ability
• First principles reasoner: Able to break complex concepts down to their fundamental elements and then build from there
• Leader: Knows what needs to get done and how to get there
• Interdisciplinary: Willing and interested to jump across multiple disciplines
• Company-builder: Excited to lay the groundwork, technically and culturally, as we rapidly scale

In accordance with New York State regulations, the salary range for this position is $100,000–$300,000. This range represents our broad compensation philosophy and covers various responsibility and experience levels. Additionally, all employees are eligible to participate in our equity plan and benefits program. We are committed to meritocratic and competitive compensation.
