Director, Public Relations and Communications
Saint Peter’s University is inviting applications for the Director, Public Relations and Communications role. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Communications & Marketing and is responsible for managing press release content, media relations, crisis communications, and internal/external messaging.

Job Responsibilities- Build and maintain press lists and cultivate relationships with local and national media.
- Draft press materials including announcements, university news, employee profiles, interviews, etc.
- Edit and proofread university materials in partnership with the communications team.
- Field media requests and coordinate with appropriate departments, including legal review.
- Track and analyze university press coverage and provide monthly reports.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive marketplace, and relevant news.
- Liaise with all departments to ensure communications are on‑brand, strategic, and consistent.
- Collaborate with the agency partner and Advancement team on the university magazine project management and editing.
- Develop and send a weekly email to the university community highlighting events and updates tailored to students, faculty, and staff.
- Activate crisis communications plan in partnership with the AVP of Communications & Marketing and key stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in communications; higher education and branding/marketing experience preferred.
- Superior written, verbal, and editing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with email distribution systems such as Constant Contact.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
$75,000 - $80,000
