Qualifications

Required:

  • BSN
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

  • National Certification preferred

Certifications and Licenses

Required:

  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
  • NRP and STABLE certification within 3 months of hire and maintenance every two years are required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements
  • Night Shift 7p-7a
  • Monday – Friday, every weekend and holiday rotation
  • Full Time 40 hours per week
Essential Functions
  • Assists Nurse Manager with ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital
  • Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education
  • Provides input into evaluation of staff performance in accordance with organization policies
  • Participates in nursing Quality Improvement
  • Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment
  • Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients
  • Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
  • Ensure that [unit/department/division] is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations

Other Duties
  • Directs patient care in a manner that promotes the highest standards of care
  • Evaluates the quality of nursing care delivered by nursing staff by reviewing plans for care and teaching protocols, assessing patient and interviewing
  • Identifies problems and/or areas requiring improvements
  • Ensures patient satisfaction as evidenced by Press Ganey scores in response to patient questionnaires
  • Resolve problems involving staff, patients, families, physicians and other hospital departments
  • Communicates effectively and seeks direction in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Serves on inter and intradepartmental committees and special task forces;
    In collaboration with Nurse Manager ensures that state, JCAHO and federal requirements are completed and documented in an appropriate and timely manner
  • In collaboration with Nurse Manager develops unit goals in accordance with departmental goals and plans change to improve patient care
  • Effectively manages the day to day operations of the unit
  • Assists with unit staff schedules; on a daily basis, identifies the number and level of personnel required to provide patient care based on patient needs and individual needs and individual skill levels, and adjusts staffing and assignments appropriately
