- Observe and report suspicious activity and behavior to the Port Authority Police
- Protect the areas to which you are assigned
- Enforce rules and regulations as set forth by the Port Authority
- Familiarize yourself with all post orders
- Maintain an operationally efficient post and help people who require assistance or information, without distracting from duties
- Supervise and ensure compliance with Port Authority and federal rules regarding the identification of personnel and vehicles
- Conduct vehicle inspections as required
- Immediately report to PAPD when unauthorized individuals attempt access or attempts physical altercations
- Immediately report any fires to PAPD
- Direct traffic at post as required
- Provide construction escort services as required
- Conduct periodic inspections of contractor work areas to ascertain compliance with security procedures
- Report unclaimed or unattended property to PAPD
- Make full reports to supervisors of all unusual circumstances
- Continually perform normal and additional assigned job duties during emergencies as directed by the Manager
- Screen and/or log persons and vehicles seeking access to restricted areas
- Report hazardous conditions identified during performance of duties
- Perform airport perimeter fence inspections as required
- Respond to and investigate door alarms and resolve conditions, reporting to Security Operations Center
- Assist PAPD by rendering aid to persons in public areas until arrival of medical assistance
- Respond to and assist in situations involving fires, explosions, bomb threats, floods, crowd control and unspecified emergencies
- Perform fire watch functions
- Report vehicle and patron accidents to PAPD, preparing handwritten reports as required
- Maintain a log of activity during the tour noting unusual incidents or activity
- Monitor vehicles and personnel in secured/restricted areas
- Use watch‑clocks or similar technology such as an Electronic Guard Tour Monitoring System (EGTMS)
- In the event of a vehicle fire, provide after‑notification to PAPD using available equipment
- Report for duty 30 minutes prior to assigned tour for roll call and travel to post
- Perform all other specific responsibilities and duties as required by the Manager
- Each position must remain on post at all times during scheduled hours unless properly relieved or secured
- Dress in uniform at all times while on duty
- Relief personnel are required for this position
- Adhere to Port Authority uniform and appearance guidelines (unless documented medical issues)
- Do not use personal cell/wireless telephone nor communication devices while on post, except as approved
- Comply with all requirements of the Section of the SOW entitled "Tours of Duty" (Section
8) - Certify as a guard by New Jersey State if working in NJ
- Certify by New York City Fire Department (FDNY) as fire watch if working in NY
