Director of Software Engineering

Description

As the Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Chase Auto, you will lead a technical area and promote impact across teams, technologies, and projects within various departments. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the primary decision maker for your teams and act as a catalyst for innovation and solution delivery.

• Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives.
• Make decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
• Carry governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
• Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams.
• Champion the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience; 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
• Hands‑on product development and engineering leadership experience building and scaling distributed systems.
• Expertise in domain‑driven design, automated CI/CD pipelines, Java, React, Postgre
  
  SQL, Kafka, and AWS.
• Experience enhancing developer efficiency with AI‑driven tools and practices.
• Experience developing and leading cross‑functional teams of technologists.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Experience leading a product as a Technology Owner.
• Practical cloud‑native experience.
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

• Experience working at code level.
