Salary Grade: Hourly (maximum of 24 hours per week)

Reporting to: Director of Athletics

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Coach – Men’s Basketball is responsible for assisting the Head Coach – Men’s Basketball with all aspects of the intercollegiate men’s basketball program. The role emphasizes academic achievement, program integrity, recruiting, player development, practice and game strategy, and travel logistics.

• Promote a culture that fosters academic achievement and protects program integrity.
• Assist the Head Coach with monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.
• Evaluate and recruit potential student-athletes.
• Develop sport skills, athleticism, character, and academic skill set for current student-athletes.
• Assist with creating and implementing practice plans.
• Assist with creating and implementing game strategies.
• Assist with evaluating opponents.
• Assist with safe transportation of student-athletes to and from competition sites.
• Assist with safe provision of food during competition travel.
• Assist with effective management of program inventory and raising funds.
• Adhere to all applicable Garden State Athletic Conference, Region 19, NJCAA, Hudson County Community College, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

• Associate’s Degree.
• Minimum 2 years of playing, coaching or administering within a college level or professional level men’s basketball program.
• General knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• First Aid/ CPR Certification or willingness to attain.
