Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician

We are currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician who will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. You will be the lead on jobsites for Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II, acting as a consultant on the customer’s behalf.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, assess information accuracy, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Manage parts inventory and company‑issued service truck equipment, performing periodic reconciliations.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required.
  • Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work and parts used on Repair Orders (RO) using company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently, managing your daily schedule and maintaining a high level of productivity within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. Applicants may also have a higher degree, certification, or 5 years’ experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Can participate in and complete all company‑required training.
  • Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; otherwise a DOT physical is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Safe driver with a valid driver’s license required; ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
