What You’ll Get To Do

Integrated Product Team (IPT) level role on the SW Design Team. This engineer focuses on controls software in an extremely complex system comprising multiple segments that incorporate mature and emerging technologies. The engineer supports the software design team lead, partners with other engineering functions, advances the segment, and supports critical engineering reviews and milestones such as SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, and TRR.

The position is on‑site in the greater Baltimore, MD area and may be filled as a Principal or Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer. The role requires acquisition and maintenance of US Government security clearance per customer requirements.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Controls Software Design Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with at least 5 years of experience, 3 years with a Master’s, or 1 year with a PhD.
  • Familiarity with command and control or controls system software.
  • Proficiency in real‑time embedded software.
  • Experience implementing requirements and interface definitions in software, performing code and unit testing.
  • Understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Current active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with at least 8 years of experience, 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.
  • Familiarity with command and control or controls system software.
  • Proficiency in real‑time embedded software.
  • Experience implementing requirements and interface definitions in software, performing code and unit testing.
  • Understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Current active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications for Principal / Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer
  • Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of software design principles and patterns.
  • Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts.
  • Experience with hardware/Software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support.
  • Experience with development and environment tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Cypress, Visual Studio, Python, C/C++).
  • Experience with application management tools (Git Lab, Nexus, Trivy, Sonar Qube, Doxygen).
  • Familiarity with Project & Task Management tools (Jira or Confluence) and Agile methodologies.

Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $. Secondary Level Salary Range: $ – $. The salary range reflects a general guideline; additional factors such as scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience influence final offers.

Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Additional benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation or personal business.
