Job Summary

Handles all activity related to billing of all insurance claims. Ensures corrections are made in Paragon & Claims Billing Software System to produce clean claims for rebilling. Generates CRC reports daily and forwards them to the appropriate person responsible for follow‑up and completion. Assigns and plans billers’ work to accomplish daily/weekly job duties. Applies own knowledge to solve routine operational problems and meets established deadlines.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Download all accounts from the Paragon system each morning. Audit accounts for missing charges and requirements, then transmit completed claims and furnish required claim information.
  • Establish patient files for claims needing diagnosis or coding information, entering the needed data.
  • Ensure rejected claims have proper codes, update the Paragon system, and rebill the claim.
  • Maintain knowledge of all commercial payer requirements; maintain a file of alerts and bulletins and distribute to relevant staff.
  • Assist with special projects assigned by the PFS Director.
  • Typing required.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Post‑high‑school business training desirable.
Qualifications and Experience

Prior experience in a medical or business office setting with emphasis on adult public contact and strong attention to detail is required.

Physical Demands
  • Hearing and understanding face‑to‑face and telephone conversations.
  • Vision sufficient to complete forms, read instructions, and use a calculator.
  • Converse appropriately with individuals inside and outside the hospital.
  • Give and receive simple and complex instructions.
  • Read and understand written language.
  • Concentrate on and remember varied job duties.
  • Prioritize work.
  • Solve simple to complex problems.
  • Use hands for typing and filing.
  • Carry less than 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • May require sitting at a desk for long periods of time to complete paperwork, type, and converse on telephone.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions without danger to self or others.
Working Conditions

Works in a well‑lighted, well‑ventilated office environment. Activity level is high with constant traffic in and out of the department. Noise level is often a problem. Interruptions are frequent.
