Job Overview

Phlebotomist (Full Time) – Wayne Memorial Hospital (A-P)

• Collect and accurately label blood specimens from patients of all ages according to policy and transport to appropriate testing sections.
• Receive and transport specimens from the laboratory drawing area to appropriate testing sections within the lab.
• Respond to order priorities in a timely manner (STAT, ASAP, TIMED).
• Maintain collection tray and laboratory drawing area in a clean and organized manner.

• Assist others in the laboratory in functions not restricted by rules, regulations or laws.
• Comply with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety and infection control.
• Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Complete annual safety, infection control and educational requirements.
• Be knowledgeable of the mission, ethics and goals of the department.
• Participate in CQI activities.
• Employee authorization for access to EPHI is determined by job function and is under the direction of the Department Director.

High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of a phlebotomy certificate program is preferred. Experience is required if no completion of a certificate program.

Licensure:
None required.

CPR required every two years.

• Trained in phlebotomy procedures for all ages.

Employee will be required to be readily available to work during any weather-related incidents or other natural disasters and/or any emergency situations that may arise.
